FRIEDMAN, ALTER CHESTER: On Monday, March 21, 2016; born December 11, 1919, son of the late Abraham and Minnie Friedman. Beloved husband for 60 years to the late Janice Segal Friedman. Beloved father of Amy (Dennis) Doran, Betsy Friedman, Cathy (Mark) Fleischmann and John Friedman. Grandfather of Brent Stern, Jared Stern, Casey Lambert and Rory Stern. Also survived by 5 great-grandchildren. Alter was a decorated Bronze Star infantry soldier in the European Theatre Operation as well as the proud proprietor of Ritz Shops Ladies Clothing Stores for over 50 years. He was an avid golfer, runner and sports enthusiast who loved the Steelers. The family would like to express their gratitude to all of his wonderful caregivers at Presbyterian Senior Care, Compassionate Care and most of all to Sarah Adams. Services at Ralph Schugar Chapel, Inc., 5509 Centre Avenue Shadyside on Wednesday at 10 AM. Visitation one hour prior to services (9 - 10 AM). Interment West View Cemetery of Rodef Shalom Congregation. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Presbyterian Senior Care, 1215 Hulton Rd, Oakmont, PA 15139 or Compassionate Care Hospice, 1725 Washington Rd, Ste 509, Pittsburgh, PA 15241 or a charity of the donor's choice.
