WEITZ, MERLE: On Saturday, August 27, 2016; Beloved wife of Alan Weitz. Devoted mother of Jonathan (Gail) Weitz, Melissa (Neil) Chonofsky and David (Judith) Weitz. Sister of Florence (late Donald) Rosenthal, Thelma (Art) Finkelstein, Bernie (late Susan) Dickter and Morris (Eleanor) Dickter. Loving grandma of Juliana, Haley and Josh. Also survived by loving nieces and nephews. Merle worked for the Squirrel Hill Urban Coalition for over 30 years. Services at Ralph Schugar Chapel, Inc., 5509 Centre Avenue, Shadyside on Monday at 11 AM. Visitation one hour prior to services (10 - 11 AM). Interment Homewood Cemetery. Condolences

I am very sadden by this news. Merle was the soul of the SC Urban Coalition and she and I spoke daily for many years. I will truly miss our conversations and hope that her family will cherish her legacy, learning from her and carrying on her positive approach to making things better. May HaShem comfort the family among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.
