On Friday August 7th, Edna Braham, beloved mother of Joel, Lewis and Michael, sister to Ralph and Stanley, mother-in-law to Tanya and Beth, grandmother to Maya. She was an artist who studied at Cooper Union, a generous, neurotic, creative, funny and fragile woman whose life albeit long was cut short by bile duct cancer or cholangiocarcinoma. She was also a big old lefty and an atheist. The best words to describe her were E. E. Cummings’: “Nothing which we are to perceive in this world equals the power of your intense fragility and nobody, not even the rain has such small hands.” In lieu of flowers, please donate to Americans for the Arts, the ACLU or the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation.
