ARTHUR LOUIS BLOOM: Born November 19, 1937 to Mary and Sam Bloom. He grew up with his sister Shirley in Jeanette, PA. Arthur attended Valley Forge Military Academy for his high school years then the University of Pittsburgh. He received his law degree from West Virginia University and went onto practice law in Pittsburgh. After retiring from the practice of law Arthur built a rewarding career at #1 Cochran where he developed many friendships and was still working in July of this year. Arthur was 10 years younger than his sister Shirley and ultimately developed a brother type relationship with Shirley’s husband Chick Kirshner. This brother relationship continued from the time Arthur was 10 years old up until Chick's death in 2010. Arthur had a passion for golf and was still playing this summer. He won many tournaments in his earlier years. Arthur loved all Pittsburgh sports and was an avid fan. But his true blue team was the Pitt Panthers. He traveled many years to see them play at Madison Square Garden for the Big East Tournament. The last 7 years of Arthur’s life included his special friend Jo Schuman. Jo was a devoted companion and Arthur loved being with her and making her a part of his family. Arthur is survived by his children Robin (Jerome) Friedman, Sam Bloom and Mara Bloom as well as his 4 grandchildren, Lauren Friedman, Jared Friedman, Jordyn Bloom and Casey Bloom. He loved the times he spent with all of them as well as with his nieces and nephews Fran (Stan) Barg, Meryl (David) Ainsman, Judy (Robert) Danenberg and Miles (Cheryl) Kirshner and all of the great (and great great) nieces and nephews. Arthur will be missed by many. Friends may meet at Ralph Schugar Chapel, Inc., 5509 Centre Avenue, Shadyside on Friday September 17 at 12 noon and then proceed to Tree of Life Memorial Park for 1 PM Graveside Services. Contributions may be made to Tree of Life Congregation, P.O. Box 5273, Pittsburgh, PA 15206. www.schugar.com
