MICHAEL I. MALLINGER, MD: Passed away April 23, 2022 at the age of 72 after a long and courageous battle. He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Nancy (Schwartz) and two children, Rachel (Michael) McVeagh and Robert (Sarita) Mallinger and his three beloved grandchildren, Noah McVeagh and Ryan and Avery Mallinger, to whom he was the best “Kuppa”. In addition to his wife and his children, he is survived by his sister Paula Eger of Penn Hills and was predeceased by his parents, Saul and Gertrude (Levy) Mallinger. A compassionate physician, Michael was beloved by his colleagues and patients, many of whom were with him for the entirety of his forty plus year career. Michael appreciated the simple things in life: his family, a great meal, a Saturday matinee and a good Seinfeld reference. He will be forever missed by all who knew and loved him. Services at Ralph Schugar Chapel, Inc., 5509 Centre Avenue, Shadyside on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at 11 AM. Visitation one hour prior to services (10 AM to 11 AM). Interment Homewood Cemetery. If not vaccinated, the family requests masks to be worn. Contributions can be made to the Hillman Cancer Center, 5115 Centre Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15232. www.schugar.com

Diane and I were shocked when we heard of Michael's passing! We were not aware of his battle with Ca. and had been thinking about Michael and Nancy a little over a week ago when we had dinner at Tessaro's. So many times we had seen Michael and Nancy as regulars enjoying their evening first at the bar and then for dinner, either Friday or Saturday night. I asked the owner that evening if she had seen the Mallingers recently. Of course she said no and was a week later we heard of Michael's passing. May Dr. Michael Mallinger RIP and remain a blessing to his entire family!!

Mrs. Mallinger and family, I'm truly sorry for your loss. He was my doctor for 20 years and a kind, caring and funny man. I used to make candy for him and his staff and he would always remind me he liked dark chocolate so he got his wish ..I always made him the dark. He told me he hid it in his desk so nobody else would find it. I missed him when he retired and always thought of him and his little jokes.

Please accept my deepest condolences.I worked with Dr. Mallinger and became a small family with the office. His patient's adored him and loved the time he spent with his patient and really got to know them . I enjoyed are small chats in his office. And always there to help him with the computer work and grabbing his lunch.. He will be missed very much. Sharing in your sorrow. With love and friendship.

Michael did whatever it took to stay alive for as long as he could for Nancy, Rob, Rachel and his grandchildren. Nancy and Michael truly had a "'til death do us part" marriage. They were there for each other until the end. So sorry he is gone but glad he's at peace. Look forward to the time when his family also finds peace.

I worked for Dr Mallinger for a couple years then covid hit, he was the smartest and kindest Dr I have even worked for or knew. He remembered everything about every patient. He was funny we had a lot of laughs during our days. I am really sorry for this great loss, he took care and helped so many and this happens to him. So not fair and way to young. I just lost my Father two months ago so I do know how hard this time is and I will keep you all in my prayers. You have my deepest sympathy.
