DENNIS MICHAEL MCCOY: Dennis Michael McCoy was born in Fort Thomas, Kentucky and moved to Cincinnati after graduating high school. Mike, his preferred name, made a career in industrial sales where he worked for over 25 years. He used to be very active in his church where he would volunteer for various charitable engagements eventually becoming a member of the board. In 1997, he met his partner, Wendell “Trey” Smith, III and they bonded over their love of roller coasters, movies, throwing parties, and spending time with friends in their Northside neighborhood community. The two had a commitment ceremony in their home in Cincinnati on September 25, 1999 and they have been inseparable ever since. Mike and Trey shared a love that was respectful and deeply profound; often thinking of each other as their rock and savior. Mike and Trey left Cincinnati and lived in Florida for five years before moving to Pittsburgh in 2011. Although he hated the cold weather, Mike was thrilled about the move, stating he missed the change of seasons and being in community with others. Like many before him, Mike loved Pittsburgh and was happy to call it home. Mike is survived by his husband, Trey Smith and closest friend, lauren baumann. Being a devoted Star Trek fan, and knowing every episode by heart, we reluctantly send Mike to the stars where he will “live long and prosper”. Per Mike’s request there will be no memorial service or burial. There will be a celebration of life at a later date. A donation can be made in Mike’s memory to Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh. https://humaneanimalrescue.org/ways-to-help/ways-to-give/honor-and-memorial-donations/.
