Jay always had that “cool dad” energy ever since I met him as a young teenager. He always had a good story to tell, and came across as the kind of guy who could make friends with anyone. His sense of humor was matched only by his empathy. I still remember a conversation we had at one of Geoff’s parties. He was the first adult who had expressed to me regrets about the challenges that younger generations would face. It was very shocking to me, because I had never seen anyone with a sense of generational responsibility. He cared about others so much that he felt responsible for matters not in his control. I’m still impressed that such an intelligent man can be so humble and good. His passing is a tremendous loss for all of us, and I offer my most sincere condolences to his family. I’ll always honor his memory, and strive to follow his example.

Jay was an exceptionally positive, joyous presence at all times. When others were down, he helped them up and when everyone was up he was at the center of every celebration, large or small. We will always remember and cherish his love for his family, the broad range of his interests and knowledge, and his calm, steady presence. May he rest in peace, and Vjecnaja pamjat — eternal memory.
