MORGAN DONATO III: Of Squirrel Hill, PA, age 73, passed away peacefully May 21, 2024. Beloved husband of the late Barbara (Boas) Donato. Loving father of Erica (Alex), Harrison (Allyssa) and Amy (John), grandfather "Pops" of Annelise, Parker, Baylee, Tyler, Peyton, son of Fyrn Hanford and Morgan Donato Jr., brother of Sherry Schalcosky (Richard), Catherine Buchner (Mark), the late Mark Donato and their families. 

Morgan was a seeker of knowledge and explored many different philosophies and shared that knowledge generously whenever possible. He never gave up an opportunity to offer advice. He also loved films, gardening, making pizzelles, and sitting outside engaged in deep conversations.

Anyone that knew Morgan knew of his lifelong love for music. Starting the guitar at the young age of ten, it grew into a passion for Flamenco and he performed around Cape Cod and Pittsburgh. In his final hours he was surrounded by family strumming along on his air guitar.

A celebration of life for Morgan and his beloved wife Barbara will be held at a later date. Services and interment are private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, UPMC Cancer Pavilion, Suite 1B, 5150 Centre Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15232.

Condolences

Dear Donato family, I was so sorry to learn of your father’s passing. I hadn’t seen him in many years, but he was my guitar teacher at the JCC when I was in high school. I learned so much from him, and have never forgotten him. I remember him as a kind man, a gifted guitarist, and a very good and patient teacher. I’m also sorry to see that you also lost your mother quite recently. I can’t imagine the pain you must all be in. I hope your happy memories of both of your parents will help comfort you all. May both of their memories be forever a blessing. With my deepest sympathy, Wendy Hoechstetter
