Renee Levin (Lewis)

RENEE LEVIN (LEWIS): Passed away peacefully on July 11, 2024, at Mercy Hospital. She was 82 years old. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Renee was the daughter of Dr. Samuel and Gwendolyn Lewis. She was the eldest daughter and the sister of Sandra Kitman (Lewis). Her family relocated to Pittsburgh in 1956 so her father could pursue his career in Medicine at the VA Hospital.

Renee was a lifelong employee at Craftmatic Adjustable Beds and retired in 2003 at the age of 62. She said the best thing she ever did was retire! At the age of 37 she became a widow and raised her two young children, Alysa Burgard (Levin) and Scott Levin, on her own.  She never remarried as she always said, "I like my independence and my own space."

If you had the pleasure of meeting Renee, you were her friend for life. She was kind and loving and was always there when anyone needed anything. She enjoyed going to the movies, lunching out with friends or family, crosswords puzzles, reading and watching MSNBC. Most of all, she loved her family. There was no one that supported and loved her children, Alysa (Randy) and Scott and her grandchildren Jacob (Emily), Jeremy, Karli and Brighton more than Renee. She was so very proud of each of them and always said, "I have the best grandkids in the world." Each of them had their own special bond with her. Renee was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Samuel and Gwendolyn Lewis, her husband Gerald Levin and her sister Sandra Kitman (Lewis).

Services and Interment are private. Arrangements entrusted to Ralph Schugar Chapel, Inc. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association (www.heart.org). www.schugar.com

Lysa (and family) I am SO sorry to hear of Renee’s passing. I am shocked! She was one whom I thought would outlive us all! She was so full of spunk and always had the most positive attitude about everything! She was a great friend and a great woman! I met her while working at Craftmatic Adjustable Bed company and she was so good at her job! She was a pleasant part of the fixtures there! I became better friends through becoming her hairdresser for a lot of years! I was so happy to get to know her on the level that I did. She did become a great friend to me! She will truly be missed! Condolences to you and your entire family! 🥰🙏🏻❤️
