SOBEL, NORMA KIRKELL: On Tuesday, April 30, 2013; Beloved wife of Dr. Michael N. Sobel. Beloved mother of Dr. J.B. Sobel of Atlanta, GA and Aaron and Melissa Sobel of Houston, TX. Daughter of the late Mary W. Kirkell and L. Harold Kirkell. Sister of I. Michael and Kris Kirkell of Williams Island, FL. Beloved Grammygrams of Andrew, Emily, Daniel, Claire and Nathan Sobel. Also survived by many close friends. Norma was active in charitable community organizations including; President of the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera Guild, Board Member of 25 Club of Magee Women's Hospital, Past President of Na'Amat Pittsburgh, Honorary President of Congregation Beth Shalom, Board member of Jewish Women's Philanthropy of the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh, and Board Member of Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre. She will be missed for her love and kindness to everyone who knew her. The family extends their gratitude to the medical and nursing staff of M-ICU West at Shadyside Hospital. Services at Ralph Schugar Chapel, Inc., 5509 Centre Avenue, Shadyside on Friday at 11 AM. Visitation one and one half hour prior to services (9:30 - 11 AM). Interment Beth Shalom Cemetery. Norma was a wonderful friend and travel companion on the three Heart2Heart missions to Israel I shared with her over the last few years. She was the first person I met on the first trip, and I was hooked! A lovely and funny woman, I will always remember her friendship. My sadness at her passing joins yours.
