ROSENWASSER, GABRIELLE: On Thursday, July 18, 2013; Beloved wife of the late Sigmund Rosenwasser and Bernard Rumsch. Beloved mother of Marc (Donna) Rosenwasser and Evelyn (Bill) Wedner. Sister of Claudine (late Harry) Deakter and the late Armand (Monique) Amar. Grandma "Gaby" of Rachel (Brad) Stone, David (Kelly) Rosenwasser, Lauren (Steve) McKenna, Jessica (Larry) Jonas, Kimberly Wedner (Gianna Sobol) and Jeffrey Wedner (Chanel Nardone). Great-grandmother of Ava, Abby, Lily , Ellie, Morgan, Toby, Hallie, Noah, Olivia and Jake. Born in Oran, Algeria, Gabrielle came to the United States as a French war bride in 1947 to marry Pittsburgh Attorney Sigmund Rosenwasser after she had served as a Translator for the US Army during WWII. A master of four languages, she became a French teacher at Taylor Allderdice High School. Gaby also hosted two television shows "Gaby goes to France" and "Entre Nous" on WQED. Her and her sister sang for various Jewish organizations as well. After living in Florida for 20 years, she returned to Pittsburgh in 2004 where she rekindled many old acquaintances. Gaby was an avid bridge player earning hundreds of master points. She never missed an opportunity to join her friends at the JCC and Rodef Shalom for their weekly bridge games. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren meant the world to her and she cherished all the special times she had with them. Services at Ralph Schugar Chapel, Inc., 5509 Centre Avenue, Shadyside on Monday at 11 AM. Visitation one hour prior to services (10 - 11 AM). Interment Temple Sinai Memorial Park.
