SCHECHTER, SIMPSON I.: Age 97, of Mt. Lebanon, passed away on July 21st. Dr. Schechter was the son of the late Samuel and Jean Schechter and brother of the late Edna Rissman and Ruthie Golden. Dr. Schechter was married for fifty three years to his high school sweetheart, the late Estelle Serbin Schechter. Dr. Schechter is survived by his daughter, Susan Lipsitz, granddaughter Samantha Lipsitz Stanlaske, her husband Robert and great grandsons, Noah, Caden and Jaxson Stanlaske. Other family in Florida, daughter Jaye Klein (Robert), granddaughter Jessica Berkowitz (Ilan) and daughter. Dr. Schechter was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and Pitt Dental School and practiced in East Liberty and Mt. Lebanon for forty years. Dr. Schechter was a retired Navy Commander and served four years in the South Pacific during WWII and was also a past M.E. High Priest of the Masons, East Hills Chapter. Dr. Schechter will be remembered as a proud son, loving husband, caring father and best Papa to all his grandchildren. Graveside Services and Interment will be held on Tuesday at 11:30 AM at Beth Shalom Cemetery. Contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
