LUCKER, DEVERA "DEBBIE" (BLOOM): Age 81, of Wilkins Twp, on February 10, 2014 lost her courageous, seven-year battle with metastatic breast cancer. Beloved wife of the late Norman Lucker of Latrobe, PA. Mother of Roberta (Robert) Kitchenoff of Wynnewood, PA and the late William Lucker of Monroeville, PA. Grandmother of Rachel Kitchenoff. Sister of Marvin (Evelyn Blinn) Bloom, MD of Arlington, VA. Also survived  by many nieces and nephews. Debbie was a Honors graduate of Alderdice High School in 1950. She received her RN from Montefiore Nursing School in 1953 and her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1955. Following Montefiore Nursing School graduation, Debbie began her career at Montefiore Hospital, rising to become Charge Nurse on a Medical/Surgical Floor until 1959.  Beginning in 1968, she was the School Nurse at Churchill Area High School (Now Woodland Hills High School) for 27 years.  She often said that she "mended broken hearts to broken bones."  She enjoyed numerous fitness classes at The Club in Monroeville, the arts & literature, global travel and spending time with her family and friends. Debbie was actively involved in her synagogue, Parkway Jewish Center, holding various leadership offices in the Sisterhood throughout the years.  She was also an active member of Na'Amat and many professional nursing organizations.  She volunteered at the HJ Heinz VA Medical Center; saying "once a nurse, always a nurse."  She was in the East Boros Jewish War Veterans Ladies Auxiliary #718 from its inception in 1982.  She was elected Auxiliary President in 2003.  Additionally, she served as Recording/Corresponding Secretary, Scholarship Liaison for Woodland Hills and Gateway Senior High Schools and multiple chairmanships for the Department of Pennsylvania Ladies Auxiliary. Services at Ralph Schugar, Inc., 5509 Centre Avenue, Shadyside on Wednesday at 11 AM. Visitation one hour prior to services (10 - 11 AM). Interment B'Nai Israel Cemetery, Greensburg, PA.
