ZAVOS, ANNETTE E.: Passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 31, 2014, at the age of 102. Annette was born on April 1, 1912 the same day, year and hospital as her late husband, Samuel M. Zavos. She was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughters Loreen (Seymour) Schafer and Elaine (Neal) Zweig, Six grandchildren Todd (Anna) Schafer, Tracy (Todd) Foreman, Douglas (Sayuki) Schafer, Adam Zweig, Sharon (Jim) Beecher and Ken (Wendy) Zweig, twelve great-grandchildren and her devoted caregiver Kathy Homziak. She traveled with her husband extensively throughout the world to many destinations which at the time were not popular or well-traveled. Her favorite pastime was baking especially elaborate birthday cakes for her grandchildren which earned her the nickname Grandma Cookie. She was loved by many and will be sadly missed by all. Services at Ralph Schugar Chapel, Inc., 5509 Centre Avenue, Shadyside on Tuesday, June 03, 2014 at 2 PM. Visitation one hour prior to services (1 - 2 PM). Interment Tree of Life Memorial Park.
